If you are a high school English teacher in Missouri, please click the link below to take the 10-minute survey:

Missouri English Teachers Dialect Survey

English teachers feel strongly about grammar and language use.  Let us know what you believe.

  • Should we still be using "whom?"  When and why?
  • A growing number of style guides now accept singular they, but should English teachers encourage it's use?
  • Is it ever okay to say, "ain't," or to use double negatives?
  • Is saying "I seen..." a grievous error, or a friendly colloquialism?

This survey will collect information

about how English teacher in schools and districts across Missouri think about the English language.  This information will help researchers at the University of Missouri, and elsewhere, design professional development that supports English teachers based on what they already know and believe about English dialects.
